Life Guard Photos

Most photographers would agree Underwater Photography is not for the feint hearted; it is a field that they'd rather see someone else try. Anne-Marie Tomlinson is that person and her recently established company, Aquashots, has dived into a plethora of aquatic centres in the north west, including most of the major leisure centres.

It is fair to say that with the technical challenges associated with taking portrait photographs under water, it is definitely among the most elite methods of photography that most people will ever see.

For an image to work underwater there are several key factors to consider and the first is clarity of the water. In order to verify a venue's water is clear enough to hold underwater photography sessions, it is essential a test-shoot is carried out to establish the water's suitability.

With the recent interest from St. Peters Swimming Pool in Burnley, AquaShots is attending the centre next week to carry out the necessary test-shoot. Burnley have opened their doors during a staff training exercise and have offered their staff to volunteer for the AquaShots test-shoot. This means, if successful, the life guards at St. Peters will be the first in the country to have staff training photographs under water.
